The WBC heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury, is reportedly locked in for a unification fight against Anthony Joshua in the coming days. However, the matchup has been through some contractual turmoils, which hasn’t let an official date come on board.
One prime reason can be the former WBC titlist Deontay Wilder, who reportedly deserves a third fight against Tyson Fury. Although Wilder has remained silent about his return, the case surrounding his trilogy bout needs to conclude. Hence, Top Rank Kingpin Bob Arum has explained the whole situation.
As per combat reporter Lance Pugmire, Arum believes if Wilder vs Fury 3 gets free from disputes, it will help to stage two heavyweight blockbusters shortly. Firstly, Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua for the unified belts, and then Joe Joyce vs Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO title eliminator.
Arum affirms what @MikeCoppinger reported earlier this week, that the Fury-Wilder arbitration case may conclude next week, a development that will free the Fury-Joshua bout to be made. The next domino could then be the making of Usyk-Joyce.

Meanwhile, it might clear the path for Deontay Wilder’s return.
Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3- The war is due
Following two gruesome encounters, Tyson Fury has one win over Deontay Wilder. Their first two bouts had the entire combat world’s attention. Hence, the duo rightly deserves to share the ring for the third time. But Wilder’s absence from the scene has urged Tyson Fury to opt for Anthony Joshua.
Meanwhile, ‘AJ’ holds three world titles, and each has its own mandatory challengers. Thus, Joe Joyce and Oleksandr Usyk are also relevant in the ride. While the WBO has set up an elimination battle between them, Fury vs Josua is one-hurdle away from meeting fruition.
Hence, Deontay Wilder might opt to free his rival. He could seek a guarantee that the trilogy will take place after ‘AJ’ and Fury settle things.
‘The Bronze Bomber’ hasn’t fought since suffering his maiden career loss to Fury in February 2020. While the heavyweight division has moved pretty quickly since then, Deontay Wilder needs to return sooner rather than later. He still holds the right to claim a title shot, but delaying his in-ring return can snatch that chance away for good.
Do you think Deontay Wilder can be a champion again?
